And having the supper club
On Wednesday nights
Together we can remember
Trips
Like the Wayflo Retreat
Mountain getaway from hell
And that now famous mountain
Hike that went from day to night
This summer's trip to Jackson
Just with you
Now I’m looking forward
To hearing you call me baby
And spending every day
For the rest of my life

You have always been independent

Walks with you in the woods which were transformed into
Treacherous and imaginary territories
Hiding behind or climbing trees
Bamboo sword fights by the creek
Long, vacation rides cocooned in time
In the back seat
You read books along the way
Listening to you play the guitar
Long talks late at night
I can’t begin to take it all in
Who you were then
And who you have become
I am so very proud to call you "son"
